2023 Grangeville Triathlon - Summer 2023

Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 8am to noon at Grangeville’s Pioneer Park & Pool!! This event is for children 4-13 years of age who want to compete in a triathlon. This event is made up of a swim, bike, and run and is broken down into age groups:

4-6: Swim 25 yards (must have a parent in water with them), Bike 0.75 miles and Run 750 yards.
7-8: Swim 50 yards, (one parent can help if needed in the water), Bike 1.5 miles and Run 1500 yards.
9-10: Swim 100 yards, Bike 2.25 miles, and Run 1500 yards.
11-13: Swim 150 yards, Bike 3 miles and Run 2250 yards.

The age groups will be categorized by color (may be subject to change):

4-6 Pink
7-8 Yellow
9-10 Blue
11-13 Green

Frequently Asked Questions

What ages can participate?: As of July 28, 2023, children ages 4 through 13 can complete.

Where & when can I pick up race package?: You can beat the crowd and pickup on Friday, July 28th from 5pm - 7pm at the Grangeville Pioneer Park Pavilion. Race day pickup will also be available 7:00am - 8:00am also at Pioneer Park.

Where should I park on race day?: Please park along and to the North, East, or West of Pioneer Park. The South side will be blocked off for the race.

Mandatory pre-race meeting?: Near the pool area at 8:30am on race day.

What time do race heats begin?: 9 am.

Setting up gear in transition zone?: On race day from 7-8:30am.

Who can be in the transition zone (TZ)?: During setup each athlete may have 1 parent/guardian assisting them in the TZ. During the race 4-8 years old may have 1 parent/guardian in the TZ assisting them. Athletes 9-13 years old, independent.

What should I wear to the race?: Your swimsuit, plus shorts/shirts, shoes/socks to put on after swim.

Can I wear a life jacket?: Yes! A limited number and sizes of life jackets are available at the pool; if you plan to wear a life jacket and have your own please bring it.

What else should I bring?: A towel, your race bib pinned to the front of the shirt you plan to wear after swimming, bike, helmet, and socks/shoes. Consider bringing a water bottle, goggles and sunglasses.

Where do I put my race bib?: Your race bib should be pinned to the front of the shirt you wear while biking and running. (Leave this shirt in the transition zone with your bike and other gear: helmet, towel, socks/shoes, etc).

What is the order of heats?: Youngest to oldest.

Will there be lifeguards?: Yes!

What is the refund policy?: In general, refunds will not be allowed. However, they may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
